KSA 900/1500 wall penstock
KSA 900-1500 range penstocks are designed for the flow control and isolation of fluids associated with water, sewerage, wastewater treatment plants, power generation, irrigation schemes and process plants.
Featuring a non-rising spindle, the KSA 900-1500 penstock is ideally suited to installation in a manhole or other confined space.
The KSA 900-1500 penstock mechanism can be can be fitted with several types of operating gear, either manual (handwheel, bevel drive gearbox) or power driven (electric actuator). Please enquire for further details.
Another advantage of this mechanism is that it requires practically no maintenance. The nut of the non-rising screw is made from POM, a naturally self-lubricating material, thereby avoiding the risk of oxidation, cold welding, etc. and the need for lubrication.
The KSA 900-1500 penstock is made mainly from grade 1.4401 (316) stainless steel and HDPE. This mixed construction makes for a lighter penstock, easier to install and to operate than ductile iron or all stainless penstocks (less effort being required to open and close it).
These materials along with the EPDM used for the seal give the penstock a long service life even in harsh environments with only minimum maintenance being required.
Due to its design the KSA 900-1500 penstock performs equally well under both seating and unseating pressures and will stand a pressure of 0.5 bar or 5 metres head.

Installation / Application
Penstock installation is made easy by the chemical anchors supplied with the valve.
The fastening points are located around the valve opening, not on the frame. A smaller surface area is therefore required to fit the valve to.
To install, follow the fitting instructions that come with the penstock.
Place the penstock level; check the concrete support is absolutely flat.
Mark out the holes and drill the concrete support.
Blow out the holes and insert the phials of chemical.
Install the stud bar attachment on the drill. After greasing the end of the stud bar, use the drill in percussion mode to insert the stud bar in the hole, breaking the chemical phial. Never insert the stud bar with a hammer. Repeat the operation for the other holes.
Observe the necessary setting time (information supplied in the fitting instructions).
Position the penstock, fit the washers, then screw everything up tight.
